Dear Mr. President,

A CALL TO A STATE OF THE NATION ADDRESS

I am compelled to write to you today as a concerned citizen, troubled by the economic quagmire that has engulfed our beloved nation. As you assumed the mantle of leadership, I believed that your vision and experience would steer Nigeria towards unprecedented prosperity. However, the stark reality is that our economy is on a precipice, and the future looks increasingly uncertain.

When you assumed office, I believe you underestimated the enormity of the economic challenges facing our country. The reality is that Nigeria is not Lagos, and Lagos is not Nigeria. The economic woes have exposed the limits of your leadership, and it’s clear that you’re struggling to keep up.

I must bring to your attention the crippling effects of inflation, exacerbated by the recent increase in fuel prices. This surge has unleashed a devastating cascade of consequences, leaving no Nigerian unscathed.

The fuel price hike has sparked a chain reaction, driving up costs of production, transportation, and goods. The resulting inflation has eroded the purchasing power of citizens, rendering their hard-earned money virtually worthless. The most vulnerable among us – the poor, the elderly, and fixed-income earners – are shouldering the heaviest burdens. If left unchecked, this inflationary spiral will plunge our nation into an irreversible journey to economic doom.

Mr. President, I urge you to acknowledge the gravity of our situation and take decisive action. Our economy’s over-reliance on oil exports has made us vulnerable to the whims of global markets. The lack of diversification has stifled growth, and the absence of a robust manufacturing sector has left us reliant on imports. Insecurity and corruption have become hydra-headed monsters, devouring our resources and eroding trust in institutions. Our infrastructure is crumbling, and our people are suffering.

Mr. President, I still believe in your ability to turn the tide. I implore you to:

  1. Diversify our economy by investing in agriculture, manufacturing, and services, creating jobs and opportunities for our teeming youth.
  2. Prioritize infrastructure development, building roads, power plants, and transportation systems that will facilitate growth and connectivity.
  3. Wage war against insecurity and corruption, using every tool at your disposal to restore peace and trust.
  4. Invest in human capital development, equipping our citizens with the skills and knowledge to compete globally.
  5. Foster a culture of transparency, accountability, and citizen engagement, ensuring that every Nigerian has a stake in our collective success

Mr. President, this is a moment of truth. The choices you make now will determine the course of our nation’s history. I urge you to be bold, to be courageous, and to put the interests of Nigeria above all else.

Sincerely,

CC Francis

…Always better than yesterday

  27. In this great pattern of things you actually receive a B- for hard work. Exactly where you confused me personally was first on the details. As as the maxim goes, details make or break the argument.. And it could not be much more accurate right here. Having said that, let me say to you just what did give good results. Your authoring is certainly extremely engaging and that is possibly why I am taking an effort to opine. I do not make it a regular habit of doing that. Secondly, while I can see the jumps in logic you make, I am not confident of just how you appear to unite the ideas which in turn help to make the actual final result. For the moment I will subscribe to your issue however wish in the foreseeable future you connect the facts much better.

Perhaps true balance is not about eliminating chaos but embracing it, learning to see the beauty in disorder, the harmony within the unpredictable. Maybe to truly understand the universe, we must stop trying to control it and simply become one with its rhythm.
