BlossomNigeria applauds the action of Governor Uba Sani that has been hailed by Human Rights groups, legal practitioners, and the general public as a proof of his leadership and commitment to the welfare of all citizens.
Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has granted pardon to 110 inmates at the Nigerian Correctional Service Custodial Centre in Kaduna, as part of the 2024 June 12 Democracy Day celebrations.
The beneficiaries of the pardon include inmates who have shown good behaviour, those who have served a significant portion of their sentences, and those who were imprisoned for minor offenses. Governor Sani, who was accompanied by renowned human rights lawyer, Femi Falana SAN, and other senior government officials, also announced a token of N30,000 for each released inmate to aid their transportation and reintegration into society.
The Governor’s gesture, which was announced during a visit to the Correctional Centre, is seen as a significant step towards decongesting the correctional facilities and offering a second chance to those who have served their time. It has been widely praised as a demonstration of his commitment to justice, compassion, and human rights.
