BlossomNigeria commends the recently announced Lions Club International District 404B2 plan, to build a world-class food bank in Lagos, a hunger relief project for an average of 10,000 people in the metropolitan city.

The District President, Tolulope Senbanjo, made this known on Tuesday, July 2, at the club’s press briefing, after he was inaugurated into office by Dayo Fagbouhun, the immediate past district governor. He said the food bank construction project was his major assignment for his 2024–2025 service year, which will be in three phases.

Lion Tolulope Senbanjo, the new District Governor of the District 404B2 Nigeria, said as the youngest District Governor ever elected in Africa, he was inspired by the mantra ‘Not too young to serve’. Senbanjo disclosed that he had been in communication with the State Government for support and intervention to achieve the Food bank project and other community projects he intends to flag off.

The Constitutional Area Leader, Taiwo Adewunmi, spoke on the level of government partnership with the club as he called for their assistance. We trust that this noteworthy idea that should be given the needed government support like getting land, raising funds to build a structure, partnering with those involved in the production of foods like Nestle and Flour Mills, etc, should be encouraged on all fronts.

The District President also highlighted other plans, which include a quarterly medical mission in the four areas within the district including Osun state, Ekiti state, Kwara and Lagos states. He said the district would embark on a two-day medical mission every quarter, to target persons suffering eye defects, diabetes, and paediatric cancer.

According to the President, the district has a large volunteer structure with over 1,900 members, and enough hands that can carry out the planned activities.

We look forward to getting more positive feedbacks on the effective implementation of the Lions club planned social welfare projects, across the district.
